Stepping Out Materially Changes the Scale of the Question
Another 320-metre step-out extends Golden Gate and strengthens the case that Surebet’s ultimate scale could materially exceed earlier models.
Last week, following Goliath Resources’ August 6 assays, I argued that the real significance of the results wasn’t another high-grade intercept. Laboratory results had begun converting July’s visually interpreted expansion into evidence.
Now we have more of the same.
Only this time, the evidence has moved another 320 metres to the northeast.
GD-26-420 extended the Golden Gate Zone beyond its previous boundary and returned 6.51 g/t AuEq over 5.73 metres, including 13.49 g/t AuEq over 2.73 metres and 36.27 g/t AuEq over 0.97 metres.
The headline intercept of 9.87 g/t gold over 5 metres from GD-26-414 is strong. Do not get me wrong, we love the high grade and it deserves attention. But good grades are no longer the big unresolved question at Surebet.
We want expansion, and we are getting it.
For some time, my question has been whether the grades—and the mineralized structures hosting them—continue as Goliath drills aggressively outward.
The latest step-out says they can.
If the geological model continues working hundreds of metres beyond the footprint used in earlier conceptual estimates, are we still looking at a roughly four-million-ounce system? Or is the drilling beginning to establish the foundations for something materially larger?
The Evidence Is Progressing
On July 15, Goliath announced that drilling observations had expanded the Bonanza Zone by approximately 750 metres to the southwest and Golden Gate by a combined 600 metres to the north and south.
Encouraging observations, but not assays.
The August 6 results began converting part of that interpretation into evidence. GD-26-417 confirmed gold mineralization approximately 540 metres southwest of the previous limits of Bonanza and Golden Gate. The hole also encountered a newly recognized, wedge-shaped mineralized interval between the two zones grading 0.52 g/t gold over 58 metres, including 1.00 g/t gold over 9 metres.
That 58-metre interval was not spectacular on grade alone, but it showed that the hydrothermal system could produce a broad mineralized envelope well outside the earlier footprint.
The same release included 8.09 g/t AuEq over 16 metres from the Surebet Zone and 4.42 g/t AuEq over 5 metres from a northern extension of Bonanza.
Then came August 10 and another step-out, this time 320 metres northeast of Golden Gate’s previous limit, with meaningful high-grade mineralization.
My job is to anticipate potential scale, but in a structured and disciplined way.
My conviction grows.
The Layer Cake Keeps Getting Larger
Surebet is no longer interesting merely because it produces spectacular intercepts.
The geological model identifies five principal mineralized systems—Bonanza, Surebet, Golden Gate, Whopper and Eldorado—containing 46 stacked lodes and veins, along with mineralized Eocene-aged dykes.
The team keeps pushing beyond the established footprint and encountering the same mineralized architecture. That stacked layer cake revealing itself in another area.
GD-26-420 did not find an isolated occurrence of gold. It intersected the Golden Gate lode system again, from quartz-sulphide veins hosted in the same volcanic package.
At some point they will find the edge.
They just haven’t found it yet!
That is what makes these step-outs so important. The company is anticipating where the structures should continue, stepping hundreds of metres outward and finding them again.
I am looking forward to asking Dr. Quinton Hennigh and the Goliath team whether this geological model has become more than an explanation of what they have already found.
Is it now predictive?
The Earlier Four-Million-Ounce Model May Be Getting Too Small
Before the 2026 expansion program, Stifel’s preliminary inventory analysis had already outlined approximately 4.3 million ounces of gold at 5.8 g/t, or roughly 22.6 million tonnes.
Most of those conceptual ounces were concentrated in Surebet and Bonanza. Stifel’s modelled mine plan was more conservative, incorporating approximately 2.4 million ounces from those two zones.
The four-million-ounce idea did not emerge from the latest assays. A professional mining analyst had already constructed a case for that kind of scale using the drilling available before the 2026 expansion program.
Since then, Goliath has pushed Bonanza and Golden Gate materially beyond the footprint available to that earlier model. Bonanza has been extended substantially to the southwest. Golden Gate has expanded north and south, and we now have meaningful grade 320 metres northeast of its previous boundary.
Simply put, the grade was already there.
Now Goliath appears to be adding scale.
We cannot measure these extensions on a map and simply add ounces. That would be promotional arithmetic, not analysis. But the known mineralized architecture is getting larger and the structures are appearing where expected.
That makes me wonder whether the earlier four-million-ounce framework is becoming too small.
If subsequent drilling connects a meaningful portion of this expanded footprint with consistent grade and width, six million ounces—or potentially more—becomes a reasonable model to investigate.
Eight million ounces remains the bigger question. But these numbers are no longer being pulled out of the air. The drilling is giving us a geological reason to ask.
Half the Drilling Is Complete. Most of the Assays Are Still Ahead.
Goliath has completed 23,863 metres of its approximately 50,000-metre 2026 program. Forty-four of 98 planned holes have been drilled, while results have been publicly reported from only five.
Those first assays have already confirmed material extensions of Bonanza and Golden Gate.
Most of the completed holes have yet to be reported, and approximately 26,000 metres remain to be drilled.
That is an enormous amount of information still to come from a program that has already started stretching the model.
We need more holes showing meaningful grade and width as Goliath moves outward. We need to see that layer cake continue across the large spaces between the current pierce points.
If it does, the earlier model may start looking conservative rather quickly.
Still Looking for the Motherlode
The proposed Motherlode feeder remains separate upside.
Goliath does not need to find it for Surebet to continue getting larger. The known lodes are already doing that work.
But they are still looking.
If the team eventually locates a substantial feeder source beneath this expanding system, we have an entirely different conversation.
Until then, they appear to be having a lot of fun expanding Surebet while searching for the Motherlode.
So are we.
